This week we are joined by Gord Stevens for part 2 of our mindfulness series. This series takes on many of the topics that have not been traditionally acceptable to talk about in an effort to shine a light on the human side of aviation. After all, airplanes don't fly themselves, people do. We discuss the power of believing that everyone is doing their best at any given moment and tackle our friend's accident head-on. You have heard about it in our past conversations but today we intentionally dive in to hopefully bring some closure to the topic.

Aviation is a cyclical industry. In 2020 we have gone from having a pilot shortage to a massive surplus with aircraft parked due to COVID19. Pilots who had a relatively easy entry into the aviation industry are for the first time needing to find ways to sell themselves rather than their flight time. Join Owen and Ryan as they talk about the importance of networking and how it is a crucial skill, both when jobs are booming and when they are a bust.

"You know, it would be embarassing to get out of an upside-down SuperCub with a bent-up prop and a scuff on my helmet. But it would be better than not getting out and having to pull me out and waking up three months later with a brain injury." - Steve Thorne, Flight Chops
If you're a fan of Flight Chops on YouTube, you may have recently seen an episode about helmets and his first flight in the Harvard wearing one. On this episode of Flying BC I catch up with Steve for a follow-up now that he's flown with it a few more times. And I also bring Kevin Maher and Ryan VH on board to expand on the idea of whether we should be wearing helmets while flying. Even if you don't think you'll ever wear one, this episode has some great discussion about safety and survival that is worth a listen. (Also features Jeremy from TacAero's original story from Flight Chops) 6/1/2020 Cardinal Aviation Audio Briefings Episode #28 (Something is Burning and NO This Cessna Can't Hover)A quick recap of the flight we had with a client today that involved a precautionary landing and a bit of a fuelling mishap.
