Scenario Based Training Modules
Flying Companion Course |
$500/Person |
Designed for spouses and non-pilot flying companions. This one day course covers basic aircraft handling, ATC communication and how to assist in an emergency and recover in the event of pilot incapacitation. This course will increase flying companion confidence and lead to more enjoyable flying. |
Introduction to EFIS |
Hourly |
Transition training for pilots moving from round dials to Glass or EFIS. Learn how to interpolate the wealth of information displayed and how to get the most out of your flight instruments. (G1000 Based) |
Autopilot Theory & Management |
Hourly |
This course is a must for any pilot using Autopilot in IFR operations. Learn how and when to use automaton and more importantly when not to use it. Never again will you say "What is it doing now?" and if you do you'll know what to do. |
Single Pilot Resource Management |
Hourly |
Crew resource management has been taught in the airlines for decades. Flying single pilot is challenging and requires discipline and standard operating procedures. Work with our coaches to optimize your workload management strategies. |
Unusual Attitude Recovery |
Hourly |
While we try to avoid them, unusual attitudes do happen and are more likely in the single pilots IFR realm. They are also a required item on the IPC Checkride. Work with your Coach to correctly identify and correct unusual attitudes with reference to instruments. |
Beat The Briefing |
Hourly |
Many pilots routinely fly to the same 3-4 airports and have the approach plate memorized which leads to complacency. You read the plate, but do you truly understand what you are reading? In this module you will work with a coach to master the IFR plate briefing, making you more confident flying into or out of new airports. |
Go / No-Go |
Hourly |
Weather decisions can be challenging in general aviation aircraft and get-home-itis is a real threat! In this module you will analyze several weather packages and discuss relevant factors and then fly you decision simulator. |
Icing Awareness |
Hourly |
This module covers icing. How to predict it, manage de-icing equipment, avoid it and how to recognize and deal with it when it gets out of hand. |
Identify Verify Feather |
Hourly |
This module is for the multi-engine pilots. Whether you are working on your instrument rating or had held it for decades chances are you could use some practice identifying and dealing with engine failures. The simulator is the perfect platform for this recurrent training. Where speed and accuracy can be fine tuned with little consequence. |
SIDs & STARs |
Hourly |
Flying unfamiliar and complicated Standard Instrument Arrivals and Departures can be overwhelming. Adherence to flying accurate tracks and altitudes is critical. In this module you will be exposed to several new SID/STAR procedures that will keep you on your toes. |
Transborder Role Play |
Hourly |
In this module you will plan and fly a flight to the United States with you Coach. You and your Coach will role play CANPASS, US Customs and you will be ready to do it for real on your own! |
Hot Start Hung Start (Future Addition) |
Hourly |
While takeoff and landing are the most critical phase of flight for the pilot. The engine start is the most critical phase for any turbine engine. In this module you will review and practice normal and abnormal turbine start procedures. |
Mountain Approaches |
Hourly |
IFR flight is challenging, IFR flight into unfamiliar airports surrounded by high terrain adds an extra layer of risk and nerves. In this module you'll fly IFR approaches to some famous mountainous airports such as Castlegar, Aspen, Revelstoke and Eagle. By the time you are done you'll be more confident and better prepared. |
Get It Up (Departure Procedures) |
Hourly |
Most airports do not have Standard Instrument Departures (SIDS). Many have Departure Procedures which can be complicated during a critical phase of flight. With your coach you will practice flying some unfamiliar departure procedures to ensure that you can safely climb from the ground to the enroute altitude. |
Cleared For an Approach (Non-Radar Descents From Cruise to Concrete) |
Hourly |
Much of Canada is without radar coverage to the ground. When ATC says "Cleared to the Cranbrook Airport For an Approach" do you know what to do? In this module you will gain confidence in assessing IFR maps and plates to guarantee a safe altitude from cruising altitude to the ground at several airports. |
Paper Shredder (Getting The Most Out of Foreflight) |
Hourly |
More and more pilot are transitioning from paper to tablets for their maps and charts. Foreflight works in our simulator the same way it works in your aircraft. Work with our coaches to learn how to get the most out of your EFB with the least amount of distraction. At the end you decide what is better paper or tablet. |
90 Seconds To Live (VFR into IMC) |
Hourly |
On of the deadliest scenarios for VFR pilots is VFR into IMC. While this condition should be avoided at all costs, accidents do happen and knowing how to deal with it could save your life. The simulator is the perfect platform to learn and practice these live saving skills |
Two Green One Red |
Hourly |
There are those that have landed gear up and those that will. In this module we explore strategies to ensure that you always remember to put the gear down as well as strategies to manage workload when they just wont come down on their own. |
Fire Fire Fire |
Hourly |
We aren't giving this one away, you'll have to experience it for yourself, and you'll be glad you did. |
Jet Jockey (Future Addition) |
Hourly |
Every general aviation pilot has fantasized at some point about flying a jet. With our simulator you can experience the sounds, and differences of flying a jet into a busy airport. Once we find a way to add the smell of Jet-A to the scenario we'll do that too. |
Energy Management (Single Engine IMC Engine Failures) |
Hourly |
Engine failures in a twin are one thing but what would you do if you were cruising on top of a solid deck of cloud and your only engine failed. Come find out and live to tell about it. |
Change of Plans |
Hourly |
Diversions happen. What would you do if you were cruising along and needed to divert to an unfamiliar airport with little or no notice. Oh by the way, its solid IMC. This is all about task management and pilot decision making. |
North Atlantic Crossing (Future Addition) |
Hourly |
Lindbergh did it with no front window and now you can try your hand at an accelerated ocean crossing. We skip the boring parts and fly the approaches into Iceland, Greenland & Iqaluit while learning about North Atlantic procedures and position reporting. |
Circling The Drain |
Hourly |
Circling approaches place the aircraft close to the ground in limited visibility. What do you do if you loose the sight of the airport? And what if something went wrong at the same time? |
Subtle Failures |
Hourly |
Not every failure or malfunction has a warning light or alarm. the Subtle failures module is designed to exercise you scan and attention to detail on the gauges that all to often are forgotten. |
Custom Modules |
Hourly |
Don't see what your're looking for? Please contact us and let our Coaches know what it is you would like to focus on and we will build a custom module to meet your training needs. |
