Note From Blake:
I vividly remember that warm summer day in rural Manitoba, many years ago, when I passed my PPL flight test. After a stressful few hours, my examiner finally turned to me and shook my hand, but he didn't say what I was expecting. I was expecting him to say “Congratulations you are now a private pilot!” but instead my examiner turned to me and he said: “Congratulations you now have a licence to learn!” This powerful statement shaped my entire future, and my outlook on the aviation profession. I believe that we, as aviators, should constantly desire for self improvement. It doesn't matter how many hours you have, or how many years of experience you have, there is always something new that we can learn or improve upon. I truly believe that once a pilot thinks that there is nothing left to learn, is when that pilot becomes a danger to themselves, and their passengers. I have spent many years in the aviation industry as an instructor, sessional college professor, and airline pilot. I am passionate about furthering flight safety, and improving the IFR skills of fellow pilots. -Do you need assistance ferrying an airplane within North America? -Do you need an extra set of eyes for the first few flights in a new airplane? -Do you need help gaining comfort with your new glass cockpit or avionics? -Do you need guidance in navigating trans-border operations, and US airspace? -Do you need help in improving proficiency and comfort level in Actual IMC, and navigating the associated hazards (Thunderstorms, Icing)? I won’t pretend to know everything or have all of the answers, because it is important to remember that we are all continuing to learn until the day we give up the pilot’s seat, regardless of our experience level. What I can guarantee though is that I will do everything I can to help you further your aviation goals; ultimately allowing you to become a safer pilot in the process! |
